Half A Deck Of Cards Makes An Alphabet – EyeSpark Weekly (September 11, 2026)

This is my 26th Weekly Update, which means that I have approximately been doing these for half a year now! A year is just over 52 weeks, which is also the same number of playing cards in a standard deck (excluding jokers), and half of that is 26, which is the amount of letters in the English alphabet! Yeah, I've been looking forward to this number for a while.

I did a few things this week I really enjoyed, including two that I might write about in more detail soon! I'll keep one of those a secret for now, but I will reveal that one of them is that I learned how to emulate Wii games on my computer thanks to a friend, and so I've actually been playing a lot of Mario Kart Wii! I also ended up joining last week's LambdaGen Gamenight where we played the original Day of Defeat, and I actually really enjoyed it!

No more ado really, onto what I've watched!

Over the week I've been watching Taskmaster Australia Series 5, and I finished it two days ago, and with that, I have now finished all of English-speaking Taskmaster's backlog. No more Taskmaster for me… except the new episodes of UK Series 22 every Thursday (which I've loved so far btw), and next Monday Taskmaster NZ Series 7 is also starting, which I am extremely excited for, but I guess for now, and especially once those are done, no more Taskmaster for a while :( (Umm I guess think of this as a way to tie the header image into this post lol)

I've been on a streak of Valve stuff again! I loved Archenlander's video on Xen's biology, just like all his other videos where he digs deeper into the franchise's things. I have also watched Zomboman's video about the same topic, but I forgot to mention it when I saw it last week. Whoops.

I came across this video about the design of Washington, D.C. by Daniel Steiner, which is a channel I somehow have never seen before despite being right up my alley (except for a video about the New York Subway I used to prepare for my recent trip). I absolutely love this type of video really examining specific cities, and I've been watching some more of them!

I found a random video about how most people use the 0–10 rating system wrong by Yellow Beanie Manga. I don't know why I got it, similar to one of last week's videos, but I heavily relate with this as I've actually had many arguments with friends about exactly this, so I'm fine with it! It's a great video, and I love finding more random videos from smaller channels like this.

Lastly, from Reddit I found this tool called Destockd which provides free public domain stock footage, made by a guy called Elroddd. I find this super useful and worthy enough to share here, especially as it's for a good cause. You can check his video about it for more details, I find this incredible!

And that's about it! Relatively short update this time, but that's okay! To be honest I have been working on writing more concisely, not for anything in particular, but just since I think it'd be nice to get better at that if I ever need it.
