My Favourite Photo

Recently I've been sharing quite a few photos, most notably some I took last weekend, and even though I am not the best at photography — I don't try to hide it, I definitely enjoy it whenever I see anything that I find cool! I've been like this for years, pretty much as soon as I got my first iPhone over 8 years ago, but one of my favourite photos I've ever taken remains one I took on October 23, 2020. (Yes, that was 6 years ago from yesterday, but I didn't write it yesterday since I had two other things to write about)

It was in the middle of the pandemic, but I was in Bayahibe with my mom and sister to leave the city for a bit, which was very nice. On that day we just arrived, and we went outside for a bit to admire the sunset, and it turns out there was this gigantic spiral cloud that covered a big chunk of the sky, which personally reminded me of the Sombrero Galaxy. It was so big that I wasn't able to get a picture of the whole thing, but I took a few with it visible, and there was also a half moon visible, and my favourite photo is one I took with both of them in the shot!

A zoomed out version of the previous image. A spiral cloud glows orange and yellow from sunlight, in front of a slightly dark sky during sunset. Two palm trees are visible on the bottom left, and a half moon is glowing on the top left.

I am kind of lying in the title here, I am not sure if this is my favourite photo ever, but it's definitely up there. It'll always have some sentimental value to me at least, both for the moment it was taken in, and inspiring me to keep photographing things in the future, leading to all of the other photos I'm very proud of.

By the way, fun fact, I originally thought about sharing this all the way back in September of last year, I think due to the the presentation on colour modes I had just made where it features, but I didn't write any of it since I didn't have any ideas I think.
