It Still Goes Up To Like 42ºC Here OMG Help – EyeSpark Weekly (September 18, 2026)

This final full week of summer has been a bit weird, not that eventful and it wasn't really the best for me, but I'm feeling better and I was able to write the Game Changer review yesterday! Hopefully I can continue to for the rest of the week. Also yes, the title is accurate, at this time of year.

I've kept playing Mario Kart Wii, two days ago I got 1st place on every single cup on every speed, but I am still gonna play some mirror cups again as I need at least 1 star in all of them to unlock Rosalina (specifically I don't have one yet on the Mushroom, Flower, Star, and Banana Cups… yes, really). Also a new free game came out yesterday called 20 More, Somehow Even Smaller, Mazes by FLEB, a sequel to his previous free game, 20 Small Mazes. I haven't played it yet, but I am extremely excited to! I plan to tomorrow.

Lastly before I get into the stuff I've seen, I wanna share this little piece I created that I made the header image of this post! It's a quick drawing I did of a local golf course on a little cardboard box just using a marker for my dad's birthday. I gave him this Golf notebook game by Gladden Design, which I found over a year ago (before I even started this blog) and I decided to get it for him since he loves golf! I'm quite happy with it.

Anyways, onto what I've watched! A lot of good stuff this time, and there's actually a few common themes among them.

Odyssey Central did a very cool video where he found out what the most popular Minecraft music discs are* (among his community). He did it with the help of a poll that I actually partook in! I found it extremely fun to do, and I loved seeing the results and the possible reasons as to why.

I keep finding these much later than I should for some reason, but Pretzel released a new episode of his Weird Spots in HL2 series last week, about the 9thAth chapter of the game, Entanglement. Even though I love Nova Prospekt, Entanglement is one of my least favourite chapters in the game, but I still loved this video!

I have one more video game thing I want to share, and it's from a channel I just discovered, it's a video about weird details and behind the scenes stuff from Mario Kart DS made by Qwack. Mario Kart DS is one of the games I am least familiar with, I really should play it again, and I found a lot of these details extremely cool! I also wanna check out more of Quack's other stuff, as he's made more videos about games, including a similar video about Mario Kart 64 DS!

I also found three interesting educational videos!

I don't usually watch shorts, but I really like VSauce's, and he did a very silly one about the first swear words said on the moon, including the revelation that someone has said the F word on the moon, despite NASA not including it in the transcripts.

RobWords made a cool video about the history and origins of most common British surnames, as most of them exist for similar reasons! I found it quite interesting, and I would really be interested in seeing videos for other languages! My surname means abbott, by the way.

Lastly for the educational videos, I found this one about why New York hasn't added platform screen doors to their subway stations by Double Take, a new channel made by Dakota Deady from Dynamo. I think it gives a very good insight into the city I visited recently, and some of the subway's issues. I'm really excited to see what more they're working on for the channel!

For some quick miscellaneous things, here's a drawing of Samus I found really cute by hoshizoralone, I loved Wednesday's xkcd comic, and here's a MacRumors article about a new easter egg in iOS 27 that made me really happy, I'm so glad we're getting them again!

And that's it! Hopefully I can get back on track this week, for writing and just generally, but I'm quite hopeful, and I hope you've had a good week, and that your next one is good too! Hopefully not as hot.
