Bit by Bit – EyeSpark Weekly (June 26, 2026)

I definitely feel like I've hit my stride again this week. Despite there being some bad news going around, this has been a very good and productive week for me!

I started doing some deep cleaning of my files and photos after being inspired by Jeremy Maluf's set up; I still have a long way to go, but any small bit of progress is good! Despite spending a lot of the week doing that, I've had enough time to play some games (though most of that time was spent on Deltarune Chapter 5), and I've had the opportunity to hang out with some friends and go out even more, especially as summer break has started for a lot of them.

I specifically wanna highlight that I went to a small event for the Summer Solstice with one of my closest friends! It was a small ritual of sorts to connect with nature and the sun specifically for a bit, and I really liked it. It's not the type of thing I'd usually do, but I did, because why not‽ I left some photos they took of it at the end of this post, as it was quite pretty.

For the games I played, like I said, most of my active gaming time was with Deltarune Chapter 5, which I really enjoyed and wrote about yesterday, but I did finally get the chance to play a multiplayer match of Office Chair Curling, and it was very fun! I promise I'll write that review some day.

Aside from that, I actually went back to a surprising game, NimbleBit's Bit City, which I haven't actively played since around 2019, but that I've kept all of my progress on! I also feel like writing an entire post about this, but for a summary, I continued from City 6, and I am currently in City 8, the titular Bit City and formerly the biggest city of the game, though it seems there's 8 more that are on the moon now, so that might be fun!

Now I'll bring up the few things I watched this week. Given all I've done I haven't actually watched a lot of things on YouTube (recently it's mostly been Deltarune Chapter 5 secrets) but I do still have some things to share!

Of course, Desert Bus Express 2026 happened, and although I didn't end up tuning for as much of it as I wanted to, I still watched a lot of it, and caught up with some clips on their YouTube channel, which I always find quite fun!

From Second Wind, Yahtzee announced this year's Summer Game Drought Vote, which I actually suspect might be so dry he does multiple of them, but that meant no standard Fully Ramblomatic this week. Meanwhile, I really liked JM8's Design Delve about Majora's Mask and how it perfected the time limit mechanic. I noticed I haven't been bringing up Design Delve much in these posts, but I do still really like it, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to bring it up this week!

Archenlander, a Weekly Update staple at this point, made another video on a weird Valve game substance, specifically trying to find the science behind the water in City 17 which "makes you forget". I feel like I say the same thing every time I bring his videos up, but I do like how he brings more detail into stuff that wasn't thought out much by the developers, but still ends up working!

Lastly, carykh has made a new STEM video about different variants of Conway's Game of Life! I'm surprised it's taken this long to see a dedicated video about the game from him, excluding GOLAD, but it was very fun! I've really been liking these videos where he takes things and introduces variants of it (like The Collatz Multiverse), as they often help me understand them more!

Also, for some quick art stuff: I loved these two pieces by SimzArt, who at this point is becoming one of my favourite online artists ever, and this moody piece of fanart for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess by Balo, who I only discovered this week from a friend, but I really like their stuff!

I'm really glad to have such a good week again. There's definitely a lot of things that could've gone better, but I've kept myself in a positive enough headspace, spending time with my friends, engaging with and doing stuff I love, cleaning up my spaces, and — of course — writing with some frequency again. I still have a lot of things I'd like to share, so I don't think I'll be slowing down.
