A Disco Space – EyeSpark Weekly (August 28, 2026)

Quite a few things have happened this week, and a good chunk of them are actually big enough that I feel like they warrant their own posts, so you can expect some of that later in the week! I do want to share some things now, though!

It was only partial (though still an impressive 96%), but last night there was a lunar eclipse, following up on the solar one from about two weeks ago. Lunar Eclipses have a much larger range than solar ones, pretty much wherever the moon is visible it can be seen, and that included here! It was quite pretty and I loved seeing it, especially as I've often missed other lunar eclipses when I could see them, so I'm glad I didn't miss this one! Pluto watched it with me too… I think.

Possibly the biggest thing to happen this week, however, is something that I've been planning for weeks now, and that's finally done! I commissioned an artist called Danishe to make a drawing of me in the style of Disco Elysium, one of my favourite games, and it's now my profile picture in most places!

I found Danishe on the r/DiscoElysium subreddit, as she's done lots of commissions in this style, and I knew since I first saw them that I'd love to have one, and I thought about it for months before I finally reached out. This is the first time I've ever actually commissioned art like this, so I was a bit anxious at first, but it all went great! It's just the profile picture in most places, but she also made an extended version of it which I'm using for the banner in my About page specifically! I'm very glad I finally got around to this, it's all perfect and she did an amazing job. Do check her out on the links above! (Or here)

Here's a few more quick things that I did during the week, which I do hope to write full posts for later on. I brought this up last week, but I finally got my Face-Turning Octahedron on Saturday and I've learned how to solve it! I currently average around 2 minutes, but I'm definitely getting better. I actually find it quite fun, so I do want to get way better!

Also I do want to reveal that the "secret project" I hinted at last week was actually the poster for the next cubing competition here, but unfortunately it appears there are no plans for it yet, and I don't even know if it'll happen, so I might just write about it now anyways.

Lastly, there are a lot of things that will happen just today and I know it, so I'm actually writing this a bit earlier than usual (hopefully it's out by 12 sharp) since I don't want the rest of this week clouded by them. Specifically I ordered some new playing cards a while back and they'll arrive today, so I might review them again, but the main thing is that after years of waiting, Portal: Alive and Kicking comes out today at noon, and I want to play it as soon as possible, so I'll probably spend most of today on that. You can definitely expect me to write about it soon!

That was a fun little excursion! Now onto the media I've engaged with.

This week's Game Changer episode was fantastic, but of course I'll write the proper review next week (hopefully more timely than the last one, though), but I do want to share this amazing edit by Zasticky, who previously made amazing edits of Night Shift and Count The Rice. It is so clean and very fitting for such a chaotically beautiful episode! (Or beautifully chaotic? Idk)

I liked Yahtzee's new Semi Ramblomatic episode on why the DualShock is his favourite controller of all time. I don't know if I can really pick what my favourite is, especially as I haven't actually used that many, but I do love the GameCube controller so that's the more interesting answer, but I also love theSwitch 1 Pro Controller.

Odyssey Central made a video ranking every Minecraft painting, which I really liked, especially as he delved a little bit into the history and real versions of some of them! My personal favourite is undoubtedly Sunset Dense, it always has been, but I love pretty much all of them, including the new ones.

I found a video by Piantapedia (amazing name btw) that goes over how many Mario Party boards use the same themes. The video was very nice, but also I'm surprised I've somehow never wondered about this in any of the Mario spin-offs, not even Mario Kart. I kinda wanna figure that out for myself now!

Speaking of Mario Kart, I found this video about Mario Kart Wii's Tournament Mode by Fintendo, which definitely doesn't have as many views as it deserves. This is something that's always fascinated me, as I love the mission mode in Mario Kart DS and heard about it being in Wii, but I never got to play it since it was online only and it's now dead, so I'm very glad the modding community has made them properly playable again! I also like this video specifically as a good overview of all the missions, and I'm surprised I haven't seen one before.

Lastly I want to bring up some Taskmaster things, since I noticed I haven't actually talked about it directly in a while. I finished Series 3 of TM Australia, and I started Series 4 yesterday, and just two episodes in it's already shaping up to be one of my favourite series. Also despite having some clips I haven't gotten to yet (whoops), I watched Lesser Tom's Ultimate Episode where he recounts his favourite moments on the show, which I already love seeing, but I especially loved seeing an episode by an assistant as it provided a lot of insight we don't usually get! Also I found this meme by LXcr8ns which I love.

Yeah, this one's mostly videos, but I think that's fine! For one bit of art here's a cool Genger piece by ¿Mr.Whatshisname?, who's made some great Deltarune art that I've possibly shared before.

Here is usually where I sign off, but there's one more thing. I know this is something a bit more sad than what I usually have in these updates, but I do want to pay tribute to Dolly Parton and Tim Curry, who both passed away 3 days ago. I absolutely adored both of them, what they did, and what they stood for, and they meant a lot to me and I know they mean a lot to other people. Rest In Peace to both of them, and I'm leaving this clip to sign off:
