Whole Lotta Videos – EyeSpark Weekly (August 21, 2026)
This actually ended up being a much busier week than I expected, so I unfortunately didn't end up publishing anything, but it's okay! Hopefully I'll be able to write what I wanted to this week, including last week's Game Changer review (which I have worked on a little bit already).
I am still working on that secret graphic design project, but I am making a lot of progress on it and I really hope to have it done by next week, so I left a sneak peek above! Shoutout if you can guess what it is!
I've slowed down on playing games this week, though I still have a little bit; I did get my Exit Path speedrun time down to 4:03, so I know Sub-4 is definitely possible, albeit quite hard. I've also continued cubing, I am making a lot of progress on 5x5 though I'm still not that close to the cut-off here, but I finally got my first Sub-2 solve, my new personal best, 1:55.67! I'll also hopefully be getting my FTO tomorrow, so I'm quite excited for that.
Onto the media I've engaged with! It's mostly just videos this time, there's a lot of them, and I only really have one bit of art I'd like to share, so I am actually leaving that here first.
[CONTENT WARNING: These drawings contain blood] u/Fit-Understanding79 on Reddit has been making tarot cards based on the Silent Hill games! I find these extremely cool, and all of them quite fitting too. I'd love to see the completed set! (I found more while revising this)
Now to the videos!
I have two quick usuals, first is Cary's lazykh video on words with all five vowels, which I found quite interesting; and Yahtzee's Beast of Reincarnation review, which I found extremely silly! There are other things that might fall into this category, but I want to write about them in a bit more detail.
Kate Fox keeps making me learn about obscure Apple products I never knew existed. This week she uploaded a short video showcasing and fixing a controller for Apple's failed "console", the Apple Pippin! I do wonder if it inspired the original prototype PS3 controller.
I stumbled across this amazing video by Pastafarian Code about simulating Rock Paper Scissors games with colours. This is such an incredible way of graphing and even adding complexity to the simple game, and it's definitely one of the most mesmerizing videos I've seen all year — So pretty!!
This video is 8 months old, but I stumbled across it this week and have since been watching a lot from this channel. Isenhart Productions mostly focuses on making videos about failed movies, as in ones that bombed in the box office, and I found them by stumbling across their video about How Do You Know, a 2010 romcom with a preposterous budget. I actually did watch it years ago since it was on a TV at a hotel I was staying at, and I didn't really care for it. It's so normal that you wouldn't expect it to be the catastrophe it was in budget, and I find that extremely interesting. I recommend checking their channel out, they've made videos on a lot of other famous flops, so if you're interested in one there's probably a video about it!
Jenna Stoeber of Second Wind released a new Game Arcadia episode about the most downvoted comment on Reddit history left by EA themselves, about Star Wars: Battlefront II. This game was such a disaster that it never fails to fascinate me. I do think that comment and this video are the most culturally significant things it gave us.
Lastly, there has actually been a triple whammy of new videos to release just today!
Firstly, it was announced a few days ago, but there is a new Epic Rap Battles of History episode! Tom Cruise vs Evel Knievel! This match-up has been teased for like 3 years now, and I'm so glad they finally got around it. It might take a few more days for my thoughts to fully settle in, but I've liked it! I also loved watching the behind the scenes, as usual.
Secondly, Sam O'Nella Academy out of nowhere released the second Pliny Explains It All video about "Man", following the first part on "An Account of the World and the Elements". The first is probably my favourite video Sam has ever done, but now with this new part — which I didn't expect at all btw — it seems to have new competition! I find these incredibly silly, and even if it takes a few years I'd love to see a Part 3 eventually.
Lastly, carykh released a video about fractalized mosaics on his main channel! This is always very exciting for me, especially when he shares a new interactive, which he did! I find this idea extremely interesting, and I've already been fidgeting a lot with this tool, it's so fun. I recommend checking it out if you're into fractal-y things!
And that's it actually! Yeah, quite a lot of "it" to be fair, but it always makes me happy to have a week where I find so many cool things, especially when a good amount of them are from channels I just discovered!
Hope you've had a good week too, and found fun things to engage with as well!
