Today Is August 7th, 2026 – EyeSpark Weekly (August 7, 2026)

It's been a bit of a tough week for me, but I am feeling better, it's really helped me to start writing a bit more again! I wrote two posts I'm quite proud of, my second Bit City review and last week's Game Changer review, and although I won't push myself, I will try to write even more this week, as it really helps.

In general I also want to do more things worth sharing. I don't really have anything that I did this week to share, but I guess I can share that while sorting through my files I decided to clean my Windows virtual machine that I run with Parallels, and I wanted a new wallpaper but I couldn't find one I liked, so I made it the original Windows Vista wallpaper, because why not‽ It's very me coloured.

Anyways, now to talk about the only other things I have to share for today, the media I've engaged with!

I don't know if anything that I watched this week would fall under a "usual", but I guess the closest thing would be this week's episode of LRR's Good Morning Moonbase. They took a hiatus from the show for about a month, and I am very glad to have it back! I didn't tune in to last week's episode, but I did watch the VOD later on in the week. Also I'm glad that Ben is upholding the theory that us asexuals love garlic bread, which I can personally confirm.

I don't have much to say about this, but I did tune into Markiplier's second FNAF stream and it was very fun! Seeing him fail 50/20 mode in under a second was wild.

This one probably counts as a usual, but since episodes only come out about once a month I always like to highlight them! Jeepy released the Half-Life Oddities episode about Apprehension, the game's ninth chapter. This is one of my favourite chapters in the game, definitely Top 5 at least, and I really liked learning all the silly things about it, and even providing my own fact!

Continuing from what I said about queer food, Dropout's Vic Michaelis was on Mythical Kitchen, where they made the pretzel pizza that they horrified everyone with in Gastronauts. They were joined by Josh and Trevor who made their own versions of the dish, both of which seemed very good without qualification. Vic's chaotic energy clashed with the show in the best way possible, and I really enjoyed it!

Lastly, I want to share a new series from a creator I just discovered! Ryan Selvy does videos about graphic design and news surrounding that, and I discovered his channel from a video he made about the rights scandal around the famous Obama "HOPE" poster. For being such a famous poster I'm surprised that this story isn't more widespread. The video itself was very well done, and I'd love to see more of this series! I always love finding interesting new channels like this, it makes me very happy.

I have some art to share as well!

Rayleearts does a lot of fantasy art, including some based on things like tarot cards and horoscopes, which even if I don't follow myself I still really like to see. This week they drew a very cute piece based on the King of Cups!

RedactedAlex from LambdaGen made a short Portal comic about Doug Rattmann, sort of as an extension of the Portal 2 Lab Rat comic! I really like the style of the comics and they replicated very well, and I also love their interpretation of what happened to Rattmann between the comics and the game!

Lastly, this isn't what I usually share in the art section, but it isn't a video either so I am sharing it now! Molly Lewis made an audio version of the Ray Bradbury story "There Will Come Soft Rains", which she made the music for and LRR's Cameron Lauder narrated! It's a short apocalyptic story I really like, that took place in the far away date of… three days ago [August 4th, 2026]. I really love this reading of it, and also Jo Tyler shared an old Soviet animated version of it from 1984 which I also really like!

And that's about it! I don't have anything else to share, except maybe the fact that I'm still playing Geometry Dash, but again, I'll try to get more interesting stuff to talk about next week!
