A collage of media I've engaged with this last week.

I've had a pretty hectic week, but I still had time to find some cool stuff to share!

Videos

  • On Monday, Nardwuar released his interview with David Byrne, one of my favourite musicians. I've been a fan of both of them for years and so this really excited me, and it was just as fun and weird in all the right ways as I expected it to be!
  • On Tuesday, No Rolls Barred released their actual House Rules episode of the month, where they played Ticket To Ride in the actual London Underground! I was a bit unsure of the format at first, but it actually worked wonderfully, and it really made me get into a metro-mood again.
  • Also on Tuesday, I found this amazing video by GD Rhythmic about the Secret Island in New Super Mario Bros U. This is a game that I have 100%-ed in the past, and I do remember being intrigued by the little island, but I don't think I ever thought about it much after unlocking (though to be fair I wasn't as curious as I probably [hopefully] am now).
  • Archenlander has been on a roll with his Half-Life and Portal stuff. After his videos on the goo and deadly neurotoxin, he released a video about HL2's explosive barrels, which I really enjoyed! It managed to find a lore reason for a simple bit of game design, which is always super cool even, if unintentional by the developers. Also I'm now curious about if it's possible to beat the game without exploding any barrels. Probably not, but who knows‽
  • One of my favourite YouTube channels for almost 7 years now is Dead Meat, a channel dedicated all to horror movies (and recently also video games and other media). To celebrate the start of their 10th year, they're finally covering the Psycho movies in The Kill Count, their main series where they go over movies while showing behind the scenes stuff. Today the episode on Psycho II came out, and I think it's an extremely underrated movie, so I'm super glad it finally got covered and I decided to share it!
  • Lastly, I am still watching Taskmaster UK and I am now in Series 17, and this is definitely one of my favourite series so far. I only really knew Nick Mohammed going into this one, but I have absolutely loved everybody so far. I'm at Episode 8, which featured a very silly task with multiple secret tasks within it, which is always fun!

Personal Projects

I'll be the first to admit that this has been a pretty slow week for writing. I have written two posts, but they're both relatively short ones as I've been feeling kind of blocked. However, that doesn't mean this hasn't been a productive week for me, as I've actually been doing quite a bit of stuff here behind the scenes!

  • If you're reading this on the website, you might notice that I have added a new tab specifically for these weekly updates! These are currently the posts I've been focusing the most on, and a thing that I want more people to see, so I think they've earned a spot there.
  • I've also been doing some more general admin stuff, and on Tuesday I finally did something that I've been wanting to do since I started this blog: I now have an Email with this domain! It is where I'd like people to contact me, so I might soon add it to my About page, or perhaps somewhere else. Regardless I am just very happy to finally have it!

I think I've said this pretty much every time, but I especially mean this today, I really hope to find more stuff to share next week, but it's okay if I don't! I already feel like I share more than most other newsletters probably do.

Next week I'll still probably be doing some light admin on the site, and there's also some new games and mods that came out this week that I will be playing very soon (specifically Office Chair Curling and Portal 2: Community Edition) but I'll get to those when I get to those.
