1 Year With My Current Computer
This isn't exactly a super deep topic, but it's still something I feel like talking about. Exactly a year ago, on April 16, 2025, I got my current computer! An M4 Pro MacBook Pro.
Before it I had a 2020 MacBook Pro, the one that still had the Touchbar and 4 USB-C ports, but did have the newer magic keyboard instead of the butterfly keyboards. It was an amazing device, but it was the last MacBook Pro without Apple Silicon, and as I needed to use it for more intensive things it started not fairing as well.
My new computer has been doing extremely well over the last year. It runs Windows on Parallels without issue, and I can even screen record while playing most games, including Source ones. I've even been able to edit videos and do graphic design projects at the same time. It's also been nice to have a lot of the Apple Silicon-exclusive features, especially being able to use iPhone and iPad apps on the MacBook.
I feel very lucky to have this computer. It's where I started this blog and have written almost all of it, and it has allowed me to do and share so many interesting things over the last year, and hopefully it'll continue to do so for years to come!
Also this is my 128th (2⁷) post in this blog, hooray!
