EyeSpark Weekly – April 10, 2026
This started out as a very slow week for me, but I've managed to find a lot of nice stuff to share the last few days!
Videos
- I've been able to catch up with LoadingReadyRun's The Panalysts again, and last Saturday's episode was very fun! I don't blame them whatsoever, but I did get a bit of a kick over Adam and Ben not knowing what "El Segundo" meant.
- I've still been watching Taskmaster, and I'm currently in Series 16. I felt like bringing this up since Series 21 just started yesterday, and also I just haven't brought the show up in a while! My favourite part of the series is how much Julian Clary and Sue Perkins dig on Alex, it always cracks me up.
- For the past year or so AnimationEpic have been remaking Season 1 of Inanimate Insanity, and this week they released Episode 10 and Episode 11 which were both very fun! I appreciate that they kept all the very silly moments from the originals.
Aside from those, everything else I have to share is Half-Life/Portal related, so I guess that obsession is back in full swing.
- Last time I shared some videos from Archenlander about what exactly the toxic goo is in the Portal and Half-Life games, and a few days ago he released a similar video about what exactly GLaDOS's deadly neurotoxin is. Just like those others, it's a simple question that ends up being quite fascinating.
- Yesterday Pretzel released a video about weird and/or unseen spots in Half-Life 2's Black Mesa East. I watched their first video on weird spots in HL2 a few months ago, but I didn't know that they've been making more for other chapters, and I've been catching up on the others as well. I love how they present these kinds of videos, as if they were actually wandering around the place.
- Lastly, for a bit of a sillier one, I found a video of somebody messing around with HL2 at 1000 tickrate, which completely breaks the physics of the game. I don't know how I haven't seen this sooner, it's extremely silly.
Art & Photography
With the Artemis II Mission (which is literally landing just as I am publishing this) I've actually seen quite a lot of wonderful photos and art of The Moon.
But first, I have to point out something very important. The image I've seen shared around the most wasn't taken by Artemis II, but instead was published back in August by Ukrainian astrophotographer Ildar Ibatullin, and is a false-colour image which is over-saturated to show The Moon's mineral composition.
I find it very important to attribute this properly, and I'm glad that I was able to find the source of it eventually, even if it took me longer than I would've liked. Also shoutout to Dominican NASA Propulsion System Engineer Michael Guzman for (indirectly) pushing me to look for the source of the image, and for sharing the following:
- You can see all the true-colour photos of The Moon on the Artemis II Lunar Flyby page on NASA's Website, which also includes some pictures of the astronauts in the shuttle and even the control centre.
False attributions aside, I've still really liked all of the art I've seen based on that false-colour image and feel like sharing it:
- There's this piece of Luna happy to be close to humans again by FRIEDBAENS.
- This stunning pixel art piece of Luna by Starbirb, which only uses colours from the NES.
- And my personal favourite so far, this piece by which fully personifies Luna by Elby, which I find stunning.
Shoutout to Casey Uhelski (miski) for reposting a lot of these, as that's how I found them. They're all great!
- Lastly, I just wanna bring up that 7 years ago today, on April 10, 2019, the first photos of a black hole were officially published by NASA. This is still a pretty monumental date in my mind, even if a lot of further progress has been achieved by now.
Podcasts
After I found out about Richard Herring's Podcast I've been in a very podcast-y mood again.
- Firstly, I finally started to listen to the Taskmaster Podcast, which they did after Series 10. Most episodes are of Ed Gamble and a guest talking about the episode coinciding with that week, and so I've been listening to the first few episodes where they're talking about Series 10. It's extremely fun, especially since the guests are often previous contestants who talk about their time on the show!
- Secondly, I finally continued to listen to LRR's From Rewatch With Love, their James Bond film rewrite podcast. I continued where I left off on The Living Daylights (the first Timothy Dalton film) and I've since also listened to the episodes of Licence to Kill and GoldenEye. I also relistened to the episode of the absolutely insane Casino Royale (1967). Even if you're not a James Bond fan, I can easily recommend this podcast to anybody who likes listening to podcasts about movies.
Personal Projects
Lastly, just because, I also feel like giving a bit of a wrap-up of all my projects this week, because why not‽
- I made loops of the original Fruit Ninja Soundtrack and I uploaded them to my YouTube channel. I am very happy to have made these.
- On Wednesday I wrote my largest post yet, revisiting my old Mario Kart retro track predictions from 2023. This was very fun to look back on and write about!
- And just yesterday I finally wrote a retrospective about Fish Out Of Water, which I've been wanting to do since December. For some behind-the-scenes on that post, I originally played it on my iPhone 5, but my progress randomly reset completely after around 2 weeks, so I didn't end up writing about it until I got the Gen 1 iPad and waited a few months to make sure it didn't reset. Also I was originally thinking about posting it today for it to be on the exact 13th anniversary of the game, but I ended up pushing it yesterday since I want to keep my Weekly Updates fixed on Fridays.
And that's it for this week! I am still experimenting a bit with this format and the specific categories and stuff, but I'm definitely getting a much better hang of it now.
