1 Year of EyeSpark

A gold 144 with the final 4 being scratched out and replaced with a pencilled in 3.

Welp, today is June 15, 2026, meaning that it's been 1 year since I officially launched this blog! This is a very big milestone for me, so just like I did when I uploaded my 100th post, I'll temporarily turn this site gold! Hooray!

Originally I thought of publishing something yesterday, which would've made this my 144th post, meaning I could've celebrated a gross anniversary, but it appears I won't. That's a shame.

Anyways, I do wish I had a bit more actual stuff to reflect on, but as I've said previously, I've gotten struck with a massive lack of motivation, so it's been harder for me to write about most things. Despite that, I've still been writing! The Weekly Updates have really helped me continue to share stuff, and I still get that hint of motivation to write more unique stuff sometimes, like about my love of the mundane, or the HL2: Episode Two beta which is close to what I've written previously. Despite me perhaps not writing as much as I would like to lately, I still am writing and finding things worth sharing, and that was my true goal since the start, so this is definitely still a success for me.

Over the last year I've made so many posts I'm proud of, whether about video game discoveries, or random thoughts, or my own personal projects, I am satisfied with pretty much everything here. I'm also proud of everything else from the site, like the graphic design, or the fact I learnt very basic CSS to make it fancier. I feel like I've learnt a lot of skills simply from working on this!

Hopefully this next year I'll be able to get back on a better pace and write more unique stuff again, but even if I don't, I'll still make sure to find fun and interesting things to share.

On that note, I did just launch a new YouTube channel for myself — took me long enough — simply called AltaKarl2 for now, where I plan on uploading more spontaneous videos that don't exactly fit with my main channel. I just uploaded two videos I took on my trip to New York, one of some squirrels in Central Park, and another of our plane landing in New York, which I have linked down below! Check them out if you'd like.

Anyways, thank you for reading and following, and hopefully you've enjoyed hearing my stuff as much as I've loved writing about it! Here's to the next year!
