September 1st, This Is a Joke Right?

Exactly 9 years ago at time of publishing, the Huang Twins posted the first episode of their webseries in over three years, Battle for Dream Island (BFDI).

At first this episode was thought to be the long-awaited BFDIA 6, promised for release on September 1, 2013, but it didn't end up happening. Instead, the first (and so far only) episode of the third season dropped, IDFB 1.

Although it isn't the much more notable 10th year anniversary of this occasion, I still want to celebrate it as it might be its last time as the only episode of the season.

This episode was originally announced with a video titled "BFDI is Back", which was a small sketch featuring some of the characters waiting for a slug. It revealed the release date and time for the new episode as September 1, 2016, at 8 AM PDT.

Recently, though, jacknjellify released a newer video titled "BFDI is Snack", a sketch with the same style and characters as the original, still looking for a slug, which apparently is set to come out in the Spring Equinox (March 21st).

Because of this teaser it's theorized that IDFB 2 might finally come out within the next year, and if so, this will be the last time we get to celebrate the anniversary of the singular IDFB episode, as it'll finally receive a new one.

Also I wanna point out something funny.

BFDIA 6 actually did end up releasing exactly a decade after it was originally promised, and BFDIA has continued since then. Originally it was announced to be cancelled, with only the "Deleted Scenes" being released a bit before IDFB 1.

I vividly remember when the original teaser image came up, though, as basically everybody (including myself) thought it would be IDFB 2 instead. So it's pretty funny that both of these big teasers were actually thought to be of different seasons, as "BFDI is Back" was thought to be the announcement for BFDIA 6.
