Happy Spooky Month! And Resident Evil 4

The main menu title screen for Resident Evil 4.

Today is October 1st! Meaning that the spooky month is officially upon us!!!

October is my favourite month of the year, and no I am absolutely not biased just because it's my birthmonth (okay, maybe I am a bit). It is a month I genuinely really like! It was generally my favourite month at school, a lot of cool events are hosted in my city, and of course there's Halloween and all the cool stuff that comes with it! I especially love seeing people's costumes.

Oh also it's my birthmonth, did I mention it's my birthmonth? It is my birthmonth.

Anyways, I wanted to celebrate this occasion by finally playing (the original) Resident Evil 4 myself! I got the game last summer, around the time I started the blog in fact. However, the Steam version of the game is broken and for some reason doesn't load regularly. I've seen some people say it has to do with the framerate but I have seen others say they still have issues even after sorting that out.

I immediately thought about finding how to fix it, however I decided to wait until this very day to play it for the first time for the special occasion. I ended up fixing it using nipkow's RE4 tweaks mod, which is relatively lightweight and very easy to install so I recommend it!

To be completely honest, I didn't have a lot of energy today, so I didn't actually play it that much, just over half an hour which was enough to finish the first small section of the game, up to the first stand-off and the bell ringing.

My original plan for this October was to play through the whole game during the month and blogging about it, however I am quite busy right now so I don't really know how much I'll play of it, but whatever.

RE4 is one of those games that I vividly remember seeing other people playing, but haven't played myself, however it's a monumental title for the horror genre, and gaming as a whole! And horror aside, it is a fun, campy, action-packed game, that despite its age remains just as enjoyable to this day, 20 years later! Yes, tank controls and all (not that bad tbh)

Also this is a very good game for bisexuals. It's like the video game equivalent of The Mummy (1999).
