My Sister's PlayStation 3 And My Backlog
I've mentioned that I've been doing some tech archaeology a few days ago, and so I've been retrieving a lot of the tech I've had around me. Two weeks ago, a few days before I got the iPhone 5 working again, I did another very big thing for me: I retrieved my sister's old PlayStation 3 from my dad's house! I've had this in mind for a few years now, but just recently we've been able to make some space for it.
Specifically, it is the 5th Gen "Super slim" model with 500 GB of storage, so it's very nice in terms of video quality and build, but it is backwards compatible with PS2 games (but it is with original PS1).
It had two controllers, but they were both kind of damaged. Ine's analogue sticks were worryingly sticky and the other had analogue stick drift, but I was able to get some that were in good condition. Also, its Wi-Fi and Bluetooth doesn't work so its module is probably broken, and I'll have to get it fixed somewhere, but that's alright.
Since it was my sister's old console it already had quite a few games! Assassin's Creed III, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Madden 13 and 16, SSX, The Last of Us, and Watch Dogs. Additionally I have my own copies of Minecraft and Minecraft: Story Mode that I got around a decade ago, and I recently purchased Assassin's Creed II and IV to add to the collection! Though Assassin's Creed II's disc does seems to be damaged, as it doesn't load anything past the Hideout, so yeah…
Anyways, I want to quickly bring up something else somewhat related to this, and it's simply the fact that I have still not cleared by Backlog whatsoever. I played quite a few games during the summer, but aside from that it's just gotten bigger.
I don't want to set up goals for myself that I know I probably won't be able to complete, and generally I do not want to pressure myself, but I will try to get myself to play games I haven't played before whenever I can.
I might document them here, I might not, and they might be from my Steam account, or my Switch, or even the PS3 if I get more games for it, but it's a pretty open goal. There's already a few games that I have in mind playing first, and I'll see if I get to those in the following days, so stay tuned!
