Pocket Trains: Status Update 5

I have a pretty big update on Pocket Trains for this week! I outlined my main plans on the previous update, and I have now accomplished all of the ones I had fully planned out!

As usual, I'll start with the the more basic information!

I just reached Level 23 earlier today, unlocking the penultimate train of the game, the Gemini Hybrid! It's sort of silly, as unlike the other Hybrid trains of Apollo, Mercury, and Artemis, it's not named after a god, but rather the myth of the twins Castor and Pollux. So that's fun!

I have also built two new railroads, increasing my total amount to 22, and I will talk about both of them below!

My map in Pocket Trains as of December 10, 2025.

So, about my two new lines!

The first one, which I made the day after I uploaded Update 4, is the Kangaroo! It goes from Perth to Sydney (the long way), and it's currently operated by a Delaware Freighter with two engines.

The second line, which I built earlier today, is the Aurora Australis! It currently goes from Perth to Christchurch, reaching the most southeastern city on the map, and is operated by a fully-powered Pumpkin Steamer!

You may remember previously that I had two different lines also operated by Pumpkin Steamers. One of the biggest things I accomplished this week is changing them, finally having all of my trains be unique!

The first line I made with the Pumpkin Steamer was the Sea Striker from Helsinki to Casablanca, which I have since replaced with a Century Limited, which has the same range but 5 more car slots.

The second one I changed was the Aurora Borealis line from London to Goose Bay, which goes through the North Pole. Because of this I swapped it with the more fitting Peppermint Steamer, which was previously on the Continental Cruiser line from Paris to Ürümqi.

Just today, though, I finally replaced it with a Gila Standard, and moved the Pumpkin Steamer to the new line! So now all of my trains are all unique from each other!

In reading order: Continental Cruiser, Sea Striker, Aurora Borealis, map focused on Oceania, Kangaroo, and Aurora Australis.

As for that new Gila specifically, it currently does have worse fuel capacity than the Peppermint Steamer, however it does have a higher capacity of 18, and I can upgrade it to 24 later on!

There was a situation a few days ago, however, that I was trading for some Gila pieces, and for some reason five of them didn't go through despite showing the notification. I did contact NimbleBit about it, though it hasn't been resolved yet, but it's alright.

Anyways! I now have 22 completely original trains in my network! Cool :D

As for some other minor advancements, I have kept getting Rio Grande and San Juan Standard parts from crates, so now I have fully upgraded both of mine! With 3 engines and 2 fuel cars each.

I've also added a third engine to my Pecos Standard, and I am currently just four parts short to getting enough to add a fuel car and have it fully-powered as well.

Now, as for my plans for the future, I don't fully know yet, but I have some things in mind.

As I mentioned previously, I expanded the Aurora Australis line all the way to Wellington and Christchurch, however I am not so sure about if I want to keep these lines, as they are in some cases closer to other cities than Auckland is, which they are required to go through, so they aren't the most effective cities.

I did have an — admittedly not 100% serious — idea to build a line that just goes from Auckland to Christchurch, and have it called The Silver Fern and be operated with a Vanilla Steamer, however I don't think I'll do that, and I'll probably just close and sell the lines to those cities.

I do still want to get to 24 lines, however I am gonna take some time to actually figure out where I want them to go, and what trains I want them to use. I am fairly certain I want to build that Blueberry Steamer line, however I am still not 100% sure as to where it should go.

Aside from that, though, as usual I am extremely proud of all the work I have done so far. Although I am sort of close to finishing my goals for the game, I am very happy that I have done so much, and am excited to see what else I can accomplish while I am still playing it!
