What's Inside The Orange Box

Today is October 10, 2025! Meaning that The Orange Box turns 18 years old today, hooray!!!

Technically, The Orange Box is my favourite video game of all time, as it features my favourite game of all time, Portal! And it also premiered two other games which I also adore, Half-Life 2: Episode Two and Team Fortress 2, as well as coming with the original Half-Life 2 and Episode One.

This collection of five games premiered on this day 18 years ago, at the regular retail price at the time of $50, meaning that each game was at a value of $10 each which was a crazy good value at the time, especially for those who didn't have HL2 and Episode One already.

I just wanted to point out this special occasion and celebrate it. All of the games featured in this collection are games I love dearly, and have always had some sort of admiration to, even if I hadn't played them fully for myself until very recently, and it remains probably one of the best deals in video game history.

I have talked about all the games featured on it to death, and I really cannot recommend them enough to anybody who likes puzzle games, narrative-focused FPSs, and/or cathartic multiplayer shenanigans.
