My Cube Collection - Top Shelf (Part 1)

The top shelf of my cube collection. Featuring my mains for 2x2 – 7x7, Pyramind, Skewb, Megaminx, Square-1, and Clock.

I ordered some new speedcubes about a week ago for the first time in a while, and they arrived on Monday, and this has motivated me to share part of my Rubik's Cube collection here!

I have over a hundred cubes in total which is a lot, but for now I am just planning to share the ones on my cubeshelf!

I have a bookcase in my room and two shelves of it hold the cubes that I use the most. The bottom one (which I will share tomorrow) has 23 miscellaneous cubes that I like to have handy, while the top shelf (mostly) contains my 11* main cubes for official WCA events, and I will be talking about them today.

First, I want to share a cube which isn't actually in this shelf, rather it stays in my desk, but it fits well in this post. My main 3x3 cube that I use is the X-Man Tornado V3 Flagship. I got it in 2024 and it has been my main ever since. I found it much more controllable and slightly smoother than my previous main, so even if it's technically a bit slower it fits my turning style a lot more!

Now for my other mains, I keep the cubes from 2x2–7x7 in the front of the shelf, with all of these being my mains in some way.

There is another 3x3 which I keep there, which is the (now discontinued) MoYu Weilong GTS3 M, which is my oldest main here from 2019 (but originally released in 2018). It has stronger magnets and feels much more stable than my X-Man Tornado, so I use it as my one-handed and 3x3 blindfolded main!

As for the other cubes, they are the GAN251 M Pro 2x2, the YJ MGC 4x4, the Valk 5 M 5x5, the X-Man Shadow 6x6 V2 M, and the X-Man Spark 7x7 M. Those last three are pretty old cubes and not really that used anymore, but since I don't really speedsolve them I don't really mind, and they still work perfectly well.

My newest main of all of these is that YJ MGC 4x4, which is one of the two cubes I got this Monday. My previous main was the MoYu AoSu WR M, which is slightly smaller and I feel like it's more stable. The MGC is lighter and smoother though, and I do feel like I average similar times on both, so for now I will call the MGC my main just to spice it up!

Lastly for my mains are the non-NxN cubes (/tetrahedrons/dodecahedrons), which are probably my favourite ones to solve in general simply due to how unique they are!

My mains for these events are the Angstrom WeiLong Pyraminx Magnetic, the GAN Skewb M Enhanced, the DaYan Megaminx Pro, the Angstrom MGC Square-1, and the QiYi Magnetic Clock.

Although Clock is often regarded as the silly event that nobody cared about (at least until QiYi released their magnetic one), my least favourite event was actually Pyraminx. This was because I didn't ever find it that fun to turn, and my previous main wasn't very good. However, after getting the MoYu WeiLong I have actually been able to get into it again! I'm still not very good, not even averaging Sub-10 and getting some truly horrendous solves occasionally, but it's a start.

As for the others, the MGC Square-1 is actually my second oldest main now, behind the GTS3 M, and because of it I started taking Square-1 more seriously for actual speedsolving. A similar thing happened with the DaYan Megaminx Pro, which was much faster and smoother than my previous one and inspired me to get better at the event!

The GAN Skewb is very good, but it made me notice something interesting. Previously, popular skewbs had some form of concavity to make them easier to hold, such as the X-Man Wingy and MoYu AoYan (which were my previous mains). However, the GAN Skewb has no form of concavity, not even swappable tiles, and at this point I feel like pretty much every popular Skewb is completely flat. The X-Man Wingy V2 is an exception, but it seem to be nowhere near as popular as the others by GAN and MoYu.

My MoYu WeiLong Pyraminx Magnetic, GAN Skewb M Enhanced, DaYan Megaminx Pro, Angstrom MGC Square-1, and QiYi Magnetic Clock.

And that's it for my mains! However there is one more set of cubes that I have to show you: Force Cubes!

You can create force cubes by getting six of the same stickerless cube and dissassembling them. Then you put all the pieces of the same colour together to end up with six cubes that are all one colour each.

These specific ones were directly based on this video by Z3 Cubing, and use the exact same budget cube, the MFJS MeiLong. The cube itself isn't very good for actual speedcubing, but due to its very low price and bright colours, I feel like they make perfect force cubes! I keep them as decoration in the sides of the top shelf.

Hexagon Force ehehehe

And that's it for the top of my cubeshelf! Tomorrow I will share all the cubes on the bottom shelf, which consist of special 3x3s, and a lot of Non-WCA puzzles.
